With the theme, “Rizal 2017: Mabuting Kaisipan, Susi sa Kaunlaran, Bauang” Local Government Unit (LGU) celebrates the 121st Rizal Day.

Mayor Eulogio Clarence Martin P. de Guzman III with his municipal council, Vice Mayor Bonifacio Malinao, SBM Alexander Romeo Obong, Warlito Daus, Jr., Gabriel Sotto, Danilo Abuan and George Picardal led the LGU employees and barangay captains in the commemoration.

“I would like to remind you that Rizal gave his life for the freedom of our country. Let the spirit of Rizal be in our hearts. Service to our fellow Bauangenios is of utmost importance. We have done our best in service as evidenced by the award we received, the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) from Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG),” he said.

He thanked all the LGU employees for all the good works and cooperation they have extended for the good of Bauang.

“There are more challenges that will come our way. Core components of the SGLG will be leveled up and we have to double our efforts to prepare for more hard work,” he added.

He assured the LGU employees that the New Year will be a peaceful and a happy one. He told them that what they will receive are fruits of their sweat and tears and that they deserve them because they worked hard for it.

He reminded them that this is the best time for them to share their blessings. There are these who are suffering out there especially those at Barangay Pilar. It is not only materially that one can share but prayers will be enough.

Meanwhile, the Mayor informed everyone regarding Executive Order No. 28, Series 2017 on the use of firecrackers.

“There are designated areas in Bauang where one can have the lighting of firecrackers. These are the open auditorium, at the town plaza and at open private properties,” he said.

He told the barangay captains to designate a particular place in the barangays for this purpose.

He ordered the Philippine National Police (PNP) to monitor and apprehend violators of EO No. 28.

He discouraged everyone not to have indiscriminate firecracker lighting but instead he invited them to watch the fireworks display after the mass on New Year’s Eve at the town plaza.
