BUSINESS OWNERS PLEDGE THEIR COMMITMENT TO FIGHT ILLEGAL DRUGS IN BAUANG

Business owners of Bauang promised to cooperate with Bauang LGU and the PNP to fight illegal drugs in the municipality.
“I focus on the program on peace and order in our town. This is everybody’s concern,” Mayor Eulogio Clarence Martin P. de Guzman III said.

He further added that the major problem the country is facing is the proliferation of illegal drugs. He is soliciting the support of the business sector on this matter.
“We are under the state of lawlessness but the PNP and the Armed Forces are helping us in this regard. We have started with the campaign of illegal drugs but we still have to cont

inue working hard to fight it”, he further stressed.

He urged everyone to submit themselves because the truth shall make everyone free. He commended the suggestion of Atty. Reynaldo V. Dulay, the past president of Bauang Tourism Council to have a seminar workshop not only on illegal drugs but also on terrorism and sex trafficking.

The Mayor asked the business sectors to cooperate with the LGU and the PNP and to be cordial to them when they will come and inspect their business establishments. These two groups are in the process of clearing surrenderees and the different barangays. Barangay Sta. Monica and Barangay Pilar are now cleaned from illegal drugs. These two barangays were given a budget of ₱ 100,000.00 each for livelihood projects to help the drug surrenderees.

Under the 7171 Guidelines, three million pesos is earmarked for livelihood projects to help these drug surrenderees. Under the Alternative Learning System through TESDA, they are offered short term courses like basic computer, dressmaking, massage, cosmetology and welding. They will be issued NCII certificates after their training.
Major Joel Lagto, OIC Chief of Police of Bauang PNP thanked the business sectors for the sacrifice and time they spent to fight illegal drugs in Bauang. He told them that all business and recreation areas will be checked to find out if there are drug dens and to stop the proliferation of illegal drugs. He mentioned that the Bauang LGU and the PNP cannot do it by themselves. He solicited their cooperation. PNP is now hitting its mission and by the end of the year, Bauangeños will have big smiles on their faces because of a drug free municipality. He urged everyone especially the elite group of Bauang to help all surrenderees so they won’t go back to illegal drugs. He presented the matrix on the business of illegal drugs. These surrenderees , users and pushers were subjected to tactical interrogations.

Major Lagto led the members of the business sectors in their pledge of commitment for a drug free town and a drug free Philippines.
