Bauang Bakawan Eco-Tourism Park composed of 49.8 hectares of mangroves located at Barangay Parian Oeste and Pudoc won second place in the search for the Cleanest Municipal Bodies of Water winning for herself 750, 000.

The champion in the Search was Tapuakan River of Pugo with one million pesos and the third place went to Immuki Island of Balaoan, La Union with five hundred thousand pesos as cash reward.

In the Search for the Cleanest, Safest, and Greenest first to third class municipality, Naguilian emerged as the first placer with one million five hundred thousand pesos cash incentive. Tailing Naguilian was Agoo, with one million pesos prize. The third place went to Balaoan with seven hundred fifty thousand pesos cash prize.

In the category, fourth to fifth class municipality, Caba which won one million pesos, was the first placer, followed by Santol with 750 thousand pesos cash prize, and third was Sudipen with 500 thousand pesos cash prize.

Paulino G. Lalata, Jr. CESO V, DILG Provincial Director, La Union, Director Carlito M. Tuballa, Regional Executive Director DENR, RO1, Congresswoman Vini Nola A. Ortega, Abono Partylist, SPM Ma. Anabelle de Guzman, Engr. Maria Dorica Naz-Hipe, CESE Regional Director DENR-EMB, RO1 awarded the cash prizes and plaques of recognition to the winners. Mayors and some representatives received their awards.

The Provincial Government of La Union headed by Governor Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III conducted this yearly search for the different LGUs to maintain the cleanliness, safety and greenness of each town.
