25 Barangay Service Point Officers (BSPO) from the 39 barangays of Bauang attend a 3-day Mothers’ Class, from June 10, 11, 13 at Bauang Farmers’ Hall, Bauang, La Union.

The class is sponsored by Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) in coordination with Bauang Local Government Unit (LGU)

Mothers’ Class is a series of classes conducted in every town especially for mothers. It aims to empower women, to make them responsible parents and to provide them with livelihood skills.

Mila L. Gamboa, Provincial Population Officer opened the program and welcomed the participants.

Joan Mae Marron, Population Program Worker (PPW) II, Luna, discussed Fertility Awareness: Human Reproductive System; Human Sexuality.

Emma Ruth Cacdac, PPW II, Bauang presented Advantages of Family Planning, ICV, Family Planning, Counseling, Rights of Family Planning Clients, Modern Family Planning Methods, Myths and Misconception.
Nutrition Education was discussed by Helen Sabado, PPW II, Bauang. Eva Narcise, PPW II, Sudipen, tackled Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI). Teenage Pregnancy was explained by Dahlia Martinez, PPW II of Santol.

Other topics to be presented are Violence on Women and Children, Home Management, Responsible Parenthood, Maternal and Child Health Care.

Participants will be taught Siomai making as an alternative livelihood skill for them to earn extra income. Distribution of certificates of participation will be given during their graduation day.
