Bauang Local Government Unit (LGU) underwent the Seal of Good Local Government (SGLG) Assessment on April 29, 2019 at Farmers Hall.
Regional Assessment Team were Ophelia S. Genese, Team Leader for Department of Interior Local Government (DILG) Pangasinan, Caress Soriano, DILG-Pangasinan, Rev. John M. Martinez, Hendrich Calderon and Ely Difonturum, DILG-La Union.
Mayor Eulogio Clarence Martin P. de Guzman III with the LGU department heads and some support employees were present during the assessment.
“We hope that Bauang LGU has completed all the necessary documents to enable us to pass the assessment with flying colors,” de Guzman said.
He presented the management team and he assured the evaluators that these department heads gave their best services to all their constituents and that they are steadfast in delivering the basic services to the people.
He informed the assessment team that based on the result of the National Competitive Index of the Philippines, Bauang LGUranked first in the field of economic dynamism in the province, third in Region 1 and 36th entire the Philippines.
With these SGLG criteria being met by Bauang LGU: Financial Administration, Disaster Preparedness, Social Protection, Peace and Order, Business Friendliness and Competitiveness, Environmental Management, Tourism Culture and the Arts, the mayor revealed that for the past years, Bauang bagged the SGLG award for two consecutive years 2015- 2016, 2016-2017.
Genese said that the assessment will undergo two phases: the on-site validation of the LGU facilities, buildings and structures and the evaluation of the documents to support the SGLG requirements and criteria.
After the assessment, a post conference was made to inform Bauang LGU of its strengths and points for improvement. In general, Bauang LGU was compliant though there are some aspects to be complied with till May 2, 2019 before the final national assessment on May 5, 2019.
Rainier Calica, the municipal administrator ended the evaluation by expressing his gratitude.
“We are very grateful to the DILG regional assessment for the constant support they extended to LGU Bauang. We hope and pray we will get the award with the help and cooperation of the department heads and Technical Working Group (TWG) headed by Helen Jubilado, DILG Municipal Officer,” he said.
A simple token was given to the assessment team as presented by the LGU department heads.
Bauang PIO
